Born in the artistic world, Cátia de Oliveira began singing Fado at the age of seven, encouraged by her grandmother. At the age of 12 she released her debut album and in 2008 her second work, “Fados”, came to life. She has participated in several Fado contests, is a regular presence in many prestigious houses of Fado in Oporto and Lisbon and stars in shows all over the country and abroad.
Biography
Cátia de Oliveira’s passion for music began at a very early age. Being already born in the artistic world, she started singing Fado at the age of seven, encouraged by her grandmother, who was also a fado singer.
At the age of 12 she released her first album, “Assim é meu fado”, and she has been expressing her style, form and technique of singing in an autonomous way ever since.
In December 2006, she was invited by Radio Festival to participate in a great Fado show at Cinema Batalha and won the Lordelo do Ouro Fado Competition, with the song “Gaivota”. She was invited several times to sing at Música e Companhia, which has been a stage for great artists, and performed with Lénita Gentil, Florência, Rosita and Cidália Moreira on a great fado night at Cineteatro Batalha.
In 2008 she edited her second album, “Fados”, and was part of the cast of the house of fados Mal Cozinhado until 2012.
Nowadays she stars in shows all over the country and abroad and is a regular presence in renowned Porto and Lisbon fado houses.
