BIOGRAPHY
He started to play viola at the age of 14.
In Coimbra, he directed the Fado Section of Academic Association, belonged to Orxestra Pitagórica and founded the Estudantina Universitária de Coimbra, of which he was the first artistic director. Along the way, he had the opportunity to take part in the recording of the Estudantina Universitária de Coimbra’s first LP.
At the same time, he began his viola studies within the Fado Section and joined its Fado group. He later joined the group of fados Praxis Nova, to which he remains connected to this day.
He attended classical guitar lessons with teachers Luciano Fonseca and Carlos Cunha, and in 1991 he recorded an LP of Fado, ballads and guitar, “Coimbra em Canções”, with the Grupo Praxis Nova. In 1994, he recorded the album “Trova Lírica” with Paulo Soares and Victor Almeida e Silva and signed some of the arrangements. In both records he is author of songs such as “Aquela Janela” and “Ondas do Mar da Póvoa”. He is also part of the musical project Guitarcelo, with Pedro Pinto, with whom he works regularly.
He accompanied other guitarists, namely Paulo Soares, in Portuguese Guitar solo shows and in several Coimbra’s Fado formations, in numerous concert venues, in Portugal and abroad. Touring in Spain, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Brazil, United States of America, Canada, Japan, Macau, Timor-Leste, Morocco and Australia is among the highlights.
He graduated in Law, in the legal-political science field, at Faculdade de Direito of Universidade de Coimbra, professional area in which he works.
